IQP – Independent Qualified Person
What is an IQP?
An Independent Qualified Person (IQP) is a specialist who manages the inspection, maintenance and reporting of integrated systems under the NZ Building Code. Common systems requiring an IQP include emergency lighting, lifts, escalators, automatic doors, and fire detection systems. Inspections, testing and reporting are all necessary as part of a building’s compliance schedule.
Each system and stage of the building compliance schedule has different requirements depending on the classification of your building and situation. For example, the annual IQP Emergency Lighting inspection requires a ’12A Form’ submission, while monthly testing requires a logbook to be kept on-site.
K&M Electrical specialises in Emergency Lighting IQP inspections and certification. For other specified systems on your compliance schedule, such as lifts, fire detection, or automatic doors, we recommend engaging an IQP registered specifically for that system.
